Accountant General

Ms Paulanne Mamo is presently appointed as the Accountant General of Malta from December 2016.

In this capacity, she is responsible for maintaining a uniform accounting system across Government Departments, the supervision and monitoring on all Government financial transactions and the management of Public Debt.

Ms Mamo is a certified qualified accountant and holds a Master of Business Administration with Distinction and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Malta. She is a senior lecturer with the Department of Accountancy and the Department of Public Policy, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, University of Malta.

Formerly she occupied the position of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business.

She also attends and occasionally chairs committees in the Fields of Financial Management and Accountancy. During Malta’s helm of the EU Presidency, in the first semester of 2017, Ms Mamo was appointed as the deputy for the Honourable Minister for Finance (Malta) on the G20 team. During the 2015 CHOGM, Ms Mamo formed part of the Women’s Forum Group, which was the first time ever that such a group was formed for CHOGM events. For the period 2020-2023, Ms Mamo was appointed as Alternate Director for the European Investment Bank.

During her tenure as Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Justice, the Ministry was the winner of the ‘Simplification of Bureaucracy’ award.
